Board Members

Our board represents a cross-section of our community and has a passion for our organization and those we serve. The members work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization and oversee that the funds raised directly affect those in need.


Beth Troost serves as the Financial Education Coordinator for the Michigan Credit Union League. A Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor, Beth provides support, training, and resources for financial education for credit union staff and members. Beth is a board member of the Michigan Jump$tart Coalition, and the League’s representative for Money Smart Week, the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), and MSU Extension.

Since June 2014, Jon has served as Controller for Slavik Enterprises, an affordable housing developer, owner, operator who is celebrating their 60 year anniversary in 2015. Prior to that, Jon was CFO for Community Housing Works, a nonprofit affordable housing organization in San Diego. Jon has over 10 years of experience in the real estate industry including his various roles as CFO and VP of Finance, and in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Jon obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University in 1992. He obtained his CPA certification in 1994 and went on to teach an MBA level accounting course at his alma mater, San Diego State University in 2008 and 2009. He has co-written an accounting chapter for an online text book for the Hospitality Business Program at Michigan State University, and was a guest lecturer in the same program. Jon also started his own business in 2014, providing accounting and financial reporting services for several churches and a K-8 elementary school in his local community, and will complete course work to earn his MBA degree from Walsh College by the Spring of 2016.

Keith Wright is currently the Senior Assistant Branch Manager at Flagstar Bank. Keith has extensive experience with finance and has been working in the banking sector for over a decade. He also has assisted Flagstar in the implementation and operation of new internal computer systems. Keith has done this while simultaneously maintaining an active involvement in community affairs, including but not limited to, the Center’s Money Smart Week campaign and the Asset Independence Coalition’s Bank On Initiative. Keith lives in Lansing with his son Charles.
